Oct. 2009: Accu-Sil "Skin-Safe" Silicone
We're really excited about our new platinum silicone. Better and cheaper than our competitor's, with a longer working time, the same demold time, and stronger when set. Slightly thicker than the most popular product on the market, but our kit comes WITH the thinner so you don't have to purchase it separately. Pretty Orange Color too.
The 380-CC alginate is so popular that we thought we'd come our with a 5 minute version for larger hand casting projects.
580-CC sets in 5 minutes when using 80°F water. It mixes up bright bubble-gum pink and fades to white at about 4 minutes. This is when you know its time to get your hands into the mold. No more panicking or watching the stop-watch.
580-CC sells for the same prices as all our other alginates.

This is a complete kit and comes with everything you'll need, except water and a model. Kit comes with step by step illustrated instructions.
We're really happy with our new 190-XS alginate. With 90°F water it will set in 1:20, but you can still put your hand in at 1:05. Extra Fast, Extra Snappy. Great for working with fussy babies or if can mix quickly.
Use 80°F water and the set time goes to 2:10. Use 70°F water and you get about 3:00.
Hydrates quickly, mixes very smooth and thin, but sets firm.
Now our 380-CC CHANGES COLOR. It mixes up bright pink, then slowly fades to white. When it turns white you know its time to put your hands into the mold because you have one minute before it sets. Takes all the guesswork out of handcasting.
March 2008: Exciting breakthrough
We have reformulated three of our alginates to significantly reduce the slump or flow of the material. This is important for "lay-up" molds, like face, head and body casting projects. Check out NEW 590-IBG, 680-LS and 880 formulas. Easy to mix and apply but almost no "slump".
That's Accu-Cast alginate on the left and Mold-Gel Regular Set on the right.
Both mixed exactly the same (5 oz. powder/16 oz. water as per THEIR instructions) We'd actually prefer to mix ours 4 oz. powder to 16 oz. water.
Both were mixed with 80°F water for 45 seconds. 4.2 ounces of mixed alginate were placed in both cups and they were both placed in the apparatus 1 minute 10 seconds after the start of mixing.
The Mold Gel set in 4 minutes 30 seconds and the 680-LS set in 6 minutes.
The Mold Gel ran 27 1/2 inches while the 680-LS only ran 1 1/2 inches.
