Accu-Cast 590-IBG - - - - (Orange)

This is a greatly improved version of our classic face and head casting alginate.

There are two really great things about 590 for those of you that want to do face casting jobs: 1) The Extra-Low-Slump formula and 2) The Gradual Set.

• We have eliminated 90% of the "SLUMP" of this alginate. Now when you apply 590-IBG, it STAYS WHERE YOU PUT IT.
• Easy to mix, Easy to Apply but doesn't run like everybody else's alginate.
• Saves you money because you're not losing most of your alginate onto the model's lap.
• Saves you time, because you're not spending time trying to "catch" the alginate as it drips off the face.
• It minimizes thin and thick spots so common in layup molds.
• We recommend just 4 ounces of alginate mixed with 14 ounces of water for a face cast. Most of our competitors recommend a full pound.

590-IBG also has a gradual set. The alginate will set from the "inside" (against the skin) to the "outside". Once you notice it beginning to set, it gives you plenty of time to embed the cotton or plaster bandage squares into the surface of the alginate during a face, head or torso cast before it sets completely.

590 sets in 5 minutes when you use 90°F water. As always, cooler water will slow the set. It sets gradually, but will end up firm and flexible, even when mixed thin.

For face, head and torso casting, we recommend a 3.75:1 (by weight) mixing ratio. Coincidentally this turns out to be almost exactly a 1:1 ratio by volume. If you want to weigh it out (the best method), use a little less than 2 quarts of water (60 fl. oz.) for each pound of 590-IBG. Can be mixed thicker or thinner as the need arises.

The use of warm water (90°F) makes it very comfortable for the subject.
